What does "AI visibility" mean?
Short answer: that an AI assistant names your client when someone asks about what they sell. It is not the same as ranking on a results page, and it is measured differently.
How it is measured
We run tracked prompts against each engine on a schedule and read the answer: is the client named, which page is cited, and in which position. The method is synthetic — we do not read anyone’s conversations, and no engine gives out that data.
Three signals
Tracked answers, AI referral visits and crawler activity are three different things. An answer can name the client without anyone clicking. An agent can fetch a page without the answer naming anyone. Mix them together and the numbers become meaningless.
What it is not
AI visibility is not search traffic, and it is not a guarantee. The engines change their answers without notice. What we can do is make sure the pages can actually be fetched, read and cited — and measure the development honestly.
A page that has never been fetched by an agent is invisible in answers — however good the text is.
