Search Console reports on verified social and video accounts
Platform properties bring Google Search and Discover reporting to verified Instagram, TikTok, X and YouTube accounts. Their scope differs from AI citation tracking.

Jump to a section
A client’s search presence can include a YouTube video or an Instagram post as well as pages on its own website. Search Console’s platform properties let agencies examine Google performance for supported accounts without verifying a website domain.
Accounts rather than domains
Google announced global availability on 29 July 2026. The supported platforms are Instagram, TikTok, X and YouTube.
The connection uses authorisation through the platform account. Google’s setup documentation describes adding a platform property through the property selector. For agency work, establish who is authorised to connect the client’s account and who should retain access.
The resulting reports cover Google’s discovery surfaces, including Search and Discover. They complement the platform’s own analytics: someone finding a video through Google is a different event from someone seeing it in a social feed.
Keep the measurements separate
These properties do not turn social performance into an AI-citation report. A Google impression does not prove that ChatGPT or another assistant used the post in an answer.
Likewise, the client’s social content and its website should remain separate rows in a report. Combining newly connected accounts with a previous website-only total can create an apparent increase that comes entirely from expanding the measurement scope.
Check the available history in each property before promising a year-over-year comparison. Use the date range actually returned rather than assuming all accounts have the same coverage.
A useful reporting workflow
Start with accounts the client actively maintains. Connect them with the account owner’s authorisation, record the available date range, and review which posts receive Google impressions and clicks.
A post that attracts search interest may reveal a question worth addressing on the client’s website. Read the post and the query context before commissioning a page: a popular video does not automatically need a written duplicate.
For clients also tracking AI answers, keep those results in a separate section with their own prompt sample and source links. Citation measurement and platform-property reporting can inform the same content decision without pretending to measure the same behaviour.
